China tax deadline March 31: annual income declaration
The tax payer shall also provide information as yearly income actually received, details of his/her identification document and the employer, along with number of days in China.
The declaration can be submitted by each individual using the popular online payment app Alipay.
Where the form cannot be submitted within the specified time limit, a request for extension shall be submitted within said time limit and a reasonable extension may be granted following approval from the tax authority.
Since the income that shall be declared are not limited to salaries, is responsibility of each individual to submit the annual declaration form.
According to the “Circular of the State Administration of Taxation Regarding the Revision of the Tax Declaration Form for Self-Filing Individuals Whose Annual Income is in Excess of CNY 120,000” promulgated in November 2007 and effective from 2008, individuals with an annual income received during the financial year from January 1 to December 31 exceeding CNY 120,000 shall submit an annual declaration to tax authorities within 3 months after the end of the tax year.
