China’s Zero Tariffs on Coal

Recently, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council has issued the Announcement on Adjusting Tariffs on Coal Imports (the "Announcement").


As stipulated in the Announcement, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council has decided, as per procedures, that a provisional zero tax tariff will be imposed on coal imports from May 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023, to secure energy supply and promote high-quality development. According to the Coal Import Tariffs Adjustment Schedule attached to the Announcement, the adjustment involves seven categories of commodities, including, among others, unmolded anthracite, coking coal, other bituminous coal unmolded, and other coal unmolded.
