China Extends Visa-Free Policy for 45 Countries Until 2026

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced an extension of its visa-free entry policy for citizens of 45 countries until December 31, 2026, and the inclusion of Sweden in the scheme starting November 10.

The newly extended policy allows travelers from eligible countries to visit China without a visa for up to 30 days for purposes including business, tourism, family visits, or transit.

This move aligns with China’s broader strategy to revitalize its tourism sector and strengthen diplomatic and commercial relations worldwide, in line with the objectives of the 15th Five-Year Plan, which emphasizes high-level openness and deeper global engagement.

The extension is expected to bring measurable benefits to multiple sectors—particularly hospitality, retail, transportation, and culture—by lowering administrative barriers and encouraging higher inbound travel.

For travelers, the updated policy offers greater convenience and flexibility, making it easier to plan or adjust trips with less administrative burden. Together with ongoing digital service upgrades and improvements in travel infrastructure across major entry points, the visa-free initiative aims to provide a smoother and more efficient travel experience.
