China’s FDI October 2022

According to the Ministry of Commerce, actual Foreign direct investment (FDI) into the Chinese mainland increased by 14.4% during the first ten months of 2022 to RMB 1.1 trillion.


In USD terms, the inflow went up 17.4 % year on year to USD 168.3 billion.


According to the ministry, FDI inflows to the service industry rose 4.8% year on year to RMB 798.8 billion, while those to high-tech industries increased 31.7%.

Specifically, FDI in high-tech manufacturing rose 57.2 % from the same period a year ago, while that in the high-tech service sector surged 25 % year on year.

High-tech manufacturing FDI rose 43.1% from a year earlier, while that in the high-tech service sector increased 31%.


During the period, investment grew respectively by 106.2% in South Korea, 95.8% in Germany, 40.1% in the United Kingdom, and 36.8% in Japan.


FDI into the country's western region increased 26.9% year-over-year, followed by 33.6% in the central region and 12.4% in the eastern region.
