Indonesia Trade Trends September 2024
According to data from Statistics Indonesia, the country’s exports rose by 6.4 per cent year-on-year to USD 22.1 billion in September 2024, while imports grew by 8.5 per cent to USD 18.8 billion, marking the country's 53rd consecutive monthly surplus.
The main destinations for Indonesia's exports were China (USD 5.3 billion), the United States (USD 2.2 billion), and Japan (USD 1.5 billion), with these three countries contributing 43.6 percent of total exports. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union totaled USD 3.9 billion and USD 1.5 billion, respectively.
During the first nine months of 2024, Indonesia’s exports reached USD 192.8 billion, and imports amounted to USD 170.8 billion.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a political and economic union of ten members, has 667 million people and a territory of 4.5 million Km2; is currently the third largest economy in Asia-Pacific and the fifth largest in the World. The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) has a combined GDP of USD 4.2 trillion, according to estimates for 2024.
