China’s FDI May 2023

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the Chinese mainland reached RMB 574.8 billion during the first five months of 2023, reflecting a marginal variation of 0.1 per cent.

In USD terms, the inflow went up 5.6 per cent year on year to USD 84.3 billion.

The foreign investment in the manufacturing industry grew 5.9 per cent to RMB 147 billion of global capital between January and May period, while that of high-tech industry climbed 7.5 per cent in the same period.

Moreover, FDI in high-tech manufacturing surged 30.8 per cent from the same period a year ago, while that in the high-tech service sector rose 1.5 per cent year-on-year.
