China tax filing deadlines for 2021

The General Office of the State Administration of Taxation issued, in December 2020, Circular No. 242 [2020] on "Clarifying the Tax Filing Deadline for 2021".

According to the current tax laws and regulations, Chinese companies must submit a tax filing for several categories of taxes and surcharges monthly (i.e., VAT, IIT, additional surcharges, etc.…). Generally, the deadline is the 15th day after the end of the reporting month. However, the deadline can be postponed according to the public holidays' calendar.

The tax deadlines in 2021 are as follows:

  • January 20th, 2021 (postponed due to New Year's holiday)

  • February 23rd, 2021 (postponed due to Spring Festival)

  • March 15th, 2021

  • April 20th, 2021 (postponed due to Qingming Festival)

  • May 21st, 2021 (postponed due to Labor Day)

  • June 18th, 2021 (postponed due to Dragon Boat Festival)

  • July 15th, 2021

  • August 16th, 2021 (since 15th is Sunday)

  • September 15th, 2021

  • October 26th, 2021 (postponed due to National Day Holiday)

  • November 15th, 2021

  • December 15th, 2021


It is strongly suggested to submit tax filing on time in order to avoid penalties and negative impact on the credit score.
