Accounting for 52% of the global e-commerce market in 2021, China is confirmed as the world’s number one, with trade value growing by 17.7% between 2017 and 2021, exceeding USD 2 trillion in 2021.
With an annual growth rate of 6 percent, China’s e-commerce sector is estimated to reach a value of 3 trillion USD in 2024. Of these, 24.5 percent of sales will come from the online retail sector.
According to an analysis by Value China, China’s eCommerce landscape in 2022 will feature new unmissable trends that go beyond classic e-commerce or cross-border: there is increasing talk of omnichannel strategies covering digital environments such as micro-influencing (so-called KOC, Key Opinion Consumers), Social Commerce (such as the famous WeChat) all the way to E-commerce Shopping Festivals that could be compared to our Black Fridays.
