According to the latest data from the National Statistics Office, Vietnam’s economy grew 8 per cent in 2025 to USD 514 billion, representing the second-highest annual rate over the past fifteen years.

The country’s economy maintained a consistent quarter-on-quarter acceleration trend, with GDP growth rising from 7.5 per cent in Q1 to 8.2 per cent in Q2, 8.5 per cent in Q3, and reaching 8.5 per cent in Q4.

For the full year, agriculture, forestry and fisheries expanded by 3.8 per cent, contributing 5.3 per cent to overall growth, while industry and construction rose by 9 per cent and accounted for 43.6 per cent. At the same time, services grew by 8.6 per cent, contributing 51.1 per cent, confirming their role as the main driver of economic expansion.

In the fourth quarter, agriculture, forestry and fisheries increased by 3.7 per cent, contributing 5.1 per cent to the overall rise in gross value added, while industry and construction posted growth of 9.7 per cent and accounted for 45.8 per cent of total expansion. Services climbed by 8.8 per cent, contributing the remaining 49.1 per cent.

On the expenditure side, final consumption rose by 7.2 per cent and gross capital formation by 8.9 per cent, while exports and imports of goods and services surged by 19.3 per cent and 19.4 per cent respectively.

The industrial production index in the fourth quarter of 2025 is estimated to have increased by 9.9 per cent year on year, primarily driven by a 10.8 per cent rise in manufacturing and processing. Over the full year, the index is estimated to have grown by 9.2 per cent compared with 2024, up from 8.2 per cent the previous year.

Overall, the combination of accelerating quarterly growth, strong industrial momentum, resilient services and improving labour productivity positioned Vietnam as one of the fastest-growing economies in the region in 2025, reinforcing its role as a key driver within Southeast Asia’s economic landscape.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a political and economic union of ten member states, has a population of 667 million and spans a territory of 4.5 million square kilometers. It is currently the third-largest economy in Asia-Pacific and the fifth-largest in the world. The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) has a combined GDP of USD 4.2 trillion, according to estimates for 2024.
