Vietnam GDP Q2 2025 +7.9%

According to the latest data from the National Statistics Office, Vietnam’s economy grew by 7.9 per cent in the second quarter of 2025, up from 6.9 per cent in the first quarter.
In the first half of 2025, the economy expanded by 7.5 per cent, marking the highest mid-year growth rate since 2011.
In terms of sector contributions: the industry and construction sector grew by 8.3 per cent, contributing 42.2 per cent to the overall increase; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries grew by 3.8 per cent, contributing 5.6 per cent; and services grew by 8.1 per cent, contributing 52.2 per cent.
Within the industry and construction sector, the industrial sub-sector achieved strong growth. The value added by the entire industrial sector in the first half of 2025 increased by 8.1 per cent year-on-year, just below the 8.9 per cent recorded in the same period of 2022. It contributed 2.6 percentage points to the total added value growth of the entire economy.
The services sector saw significant boosts in foreign trade, transportation, and tourism to meet both regional and global consumption demand. The added value of this sector grew by 8.1 per cent – the highest mid-year increase from 2011 to 2025.
In the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, agriculture maintained stable growth, with the sector’s added value up 3.5 per cent year-on-year, contributing 0.3 percentage points to overall economic growth.
In the first six months of 2025, total import-export turnover exceeded USD 432 billion, up 16.1 per cent year-on-year. Exports rose by 14.4 per cent, and imports by 17.9 per cent. The trade surplus reached USD 7.6 billion.
In its latest economic outlook, the International Monetary Fund projected Vietnam’s GDP growth rate at 5.2 per cent for 2025.

The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) has a combined GDP of USD 4.2 trillion, according to estimates for 2024.
